Resources for Change are training students to prevent smoking for the National Public Health Service for Wales on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government.
Helen Fairweather, a highly experienced facilitator and trainer, has been trained by the Assist Programme to deliver training to secondary pupils all over Wales.
Research has shown that smoking among young people is a group activity and the Assist programme aims to reduce smoking amongst young people aged 12-13 (year 8) by training influential students to disseminate new forms of behaviour through their established social networks.
Resources for Change were very pleased to become involved in this project because of our interest in behaviour change and wide experience of training programmes.
