In 2009, five Members of the Resources for Change team were busy assessing grant applications on behalf of The Community Development Foundation; assessing applications to the the Office of the Third Sector’s Hardship Fund, just one of the funds that CDF administer.
The Hardship Fund was a £16.7 million grant programme, now finished, to support third sector organisations in England who were delivering front-line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. Grants of between £50,000 and £250,000 were made available to organisations with an annual income of at least £200,000 who were in financial hardship as a result of the recession.
Combining a fast and reliable service with flexibility and experience, R4C assessed more than 100 applications over several weeks, one of the deciding factors being an apllications demonstration of sustainability.
