In 2010 Irene worked as part of the Scottish Community Development Centre team to investigate the need for and interest in some sort of mechanism to share learning about community development across the four nations of the UK – Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Taking responsibility for the research in Wales, Irene interviewed representatives of key community development and other organisations using community development approaches in their work. The aim was to find out how people are currently learning about community development in the other nations, whether these routes are working well or whether people feel that there is a need for something else.
Her findings will be combined with those from Scotland, England and Northern Ireland, and recommendations made to the Four Nations Trustee Sub-Group of CDF later this year.
